Rationale

8cmc 9/6 flash legendary — ETB destroys up to three target creatures, giving this card immediate board impact at instant speed. A powerful top-end threat in black control/midrange, but 8 mana with double-black pip is steep even for Commander; it competes with faster, cheaper removal and finishers. In Brawl its flash + 3-for-1 ETB is more impactful at 25 life where board presence matters more.

Learnings (3)

  • Armaggon's flash + destroy-three-creatures ETB can be used as an instant-speed pseudo-boardwipe on an opponent's end step, then attack the following turn — a key play pattern distinguishing it from sorcery-speed wraths.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • At 8 mana with {B}{B} in the cost, Armaggon is primarily a commander candidate rather than a 99-card inclusion; as a commander it guarantees access to the ETB wrath effect repeatedly.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • Destroying 'up to three' creatures is targeted removal, not a true boardwipe — indestructible creatures and shroud/hexproof creatures are unaffected, so the board-clear can be incomplete against resilient threats.
