Rationale

Avatar Roku is a 6/6 for {3}{R}{R}{R} that generates six {R} whenever ANY player attacks, usable until end of combat as a mana sink for mass pump (+3/+0 for {R}{R}{R}). The attack trigger is deeply symmetrical — opponents who attack also generate the 6R, making this a gift to aggressive opponents. The pip-heavy cost ({R}{R}{R}) strongly gates this to mono-red or heavily red shells. In Limited it's a bomb finisher; in Commander the symmetric trigger is a real downside and the 6cmc cost limits tempo.

Learnings (3)

  • The attack trigger fires for every player's attacks, not just Roku's controller — opponents who attack into you generate the 6R burst, which they can also spend on their own activated abilities if those are usable during combat.

  • The six {R} generated persist through steps and phases until end of combat (not just the current step), letting you spend them across multiple pump activations in a single combat — but they disappear at end of combat rather than carrying over to post-combat main phase.

  • At {3}{R}{R}{R}, Roku is effectively mono-red only in Commander; the triple-pip cost means splash inclusion is impractical, narrowing deckbuilding options significantly compared to most mythic 6-drops.
