Rationale
2cmc instant — untaps ALL nonland permanents you control. Its primary fame is as a half of the Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter infinite-mana combo (imprint Dramatic Reversal on Scepter, tap mana rocks, cast the imprinted copy, untap everything, repeat for infinite mana). Outside this combo it's a niche tempo play with limited standalone value, making it fringe in Limited and Brawl without the combo support. In Commander, the Scepter combo is an iconic, compact 2-card win condition found in countless blue combo and control decks.
Learnings (3)
Dramatic Reversal is half of the famous Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal combo: imprint Reversal on the Scepter, tap mana rocks producing 3+ mana total, activate Scepter for 2, cast the copy untapping all permanents including the Scepter and rocks, netting infinite mana and infinite Scepter activations.
tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6
The combo requires nonland permanents collectively producing at least 3 mana (to pay the {2} Scepter activation cost); with exactly 2 mana produced it only goes infinite on spell casts, not mana — deckbuilders must count their rock mana carefully.
tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6
Dramatic Reversal is essentially a blank card without Isochron Scepter or another way to abuse mass-untap; its standalone power is near zero, so it should only be included in decks with reliable access to the Scepter or equivalent engines.
