Rationale

Krang & Shredder is a 6cmc 6/7 that mills opponents on ETB/attack, exiling nonland cards for potential free casting via the "Disappear" ability — which triggers at end step if any permanent left the battlefield under your control. Signature in control (build up exile free-spells), sacrifice (easy Disappear trigger via sacrificing permanents), and flicker shells (bouncing permanents enables the trigger reliably). The 6-mana investment and conditional free-cast require setup, making it tier-2 in both Commander and Brawl — powerful but not universally slotted.

Learnings (3)

  • The 'Disappear' ability is functionally mech-void (a permanent leaving the battlefield under your control triggers it), making sacrifice outlets, flicker effects, and even fetch lands ideal enablers — any permanent leaving works, not just creatures.

  • Krang & Shredder exiles cards from each opponent, meaning in a 4-player Commander game the ETB/attack can reveal 3 different free-cast targets, dramatically increasing value over 1v1 Brawl where only one opponent is milled.

  • The free-cast from exile is 'without paying its mana cost,' so it bypasses alternative costs and can cast X-spells for X=0 — but cascade and other cast-trigger effects still apply normally.
