Rationale

Krang is a 5cmc Legendary Artifact Creature that doubles draw-triggered abilities and grows from second-draw-per-turn triggers. It is a signature engine in wheels and spellslinger shells that chain multiple draw effects (e.g., Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, Coastal Piracy — all trigger twice), turning incremental card-draw into an avalanche of value; it also snowballs into a large threat via +1/+1 counters in draw-heavy decks. At 5 mana it is slow to come online and will attract removal once opponents recognize the doubling effect.

Learnings (3)

  • Krang's static ability doubles any 'whenever a player draws a card' triggered ability on YOUR permanents — this includes Rhystic Study (draws two), Coastal Piracy, Glademuse, and similar effects, making it a massive force multiplier in draw-trigger decks.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • The counter-growth trigger keys on the SECOND card drawn each turn by any player, not just you — in multiplayer Commander with wheels or group-draw spells, Krang can gain multiple counters per round even without you drawing cards yourself.

  • Krang is an Artifact Creature, so it benefits from both artifact-matters and legendary-matters synergies, and is vulnerable to both artifact removal and creature removal — a notable risk in blue shells that may lack protective backup.
