Rationale
Maralen is a 4/5 flying Elf Faerie commander that mills opponents on each Elf/Faerie ETB and lets you cast spells from those exiled cards for free, with the free-cast ceiling scaling with your Elf/Faerie count. She is a signature engine in Sultai Elf/Faerie typal shells where tribal density both triggers the mill and unlocks progressively larger free casts — effectively a tribal-scaling toolbox engine. She is slow without a board (requires creatures to enter and to have milled cards this turn), relies heavily on Elf/Faerie density for the free-cast value, and is a must-answer threat that draws removal immediately.
Learnings (3)
The free-cast ability only works on cards exiled THIS turn, meaning you need Elf/Faerie ETBs in the same turn to both mill and then spend the exiled cards — the engine requires same-turn setup, not accumulated exile value.

The mana-value cap for the free cast equals the number of Elves and Faeries you control at cast time, so a wide board (6+ creatures) can unlock high-CMC spells for free including opponent's own threats.

Maralen mills target opponent specifically (not yourself), making her one of the rare tribal commanders that incidentally pressures opponents' libraries while providing a free-cast payoff — she can serve as a mill finisher in long games with enough tribal triggers.
