Rationale

2cmc 1/3 prowess creature that mills X cards (X = Lesson cards in graveyard) whenever it becomes tapped. The mill trigger is highly conditional — it requires a density of Lesson cards in the graveyard, which is a very narrow deckbuilding constraint outside of Strixhaven-themed or dedicated Lesson-synergy builds. Prowess makes it a modest threat in spellslinger shells, but the mill payoff is the defining feature and only shines in a specifically constructed deck.

Learnings (3)

  • Master Pakku's mill trigger fires whenever he becomes tapped by ANY means — combat, tap-based abilities, or effects — not just attacking, which opens up synergies with tap engines or untap loops.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • The Lesson subtype requirement for graveyard density is extremely narrow; outside Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed sets or dedicated Strixhaven lesson-tutor builds, accumulating enough Lesson cards in the graveyard to mill meaningfully is very difficult.

  • In a dedicated Lesson-graveyard deck, pairing Pakku with self-mill or Learn effects (which search Lessons) can accelerate the graveyard count, but this requires significant build-around investment.
