Rationale

Rocksteady is a 6cmc 7/7 that can't be blocked by more than one creature, making it a strong evasive finisher in green midrange or ramp-big-mana shells; the Forestcycling ability provides critical flexibility, letting it act as a land-fetch/mana-fixing tool when the top-end threat isn't needed. The Boar tribal text is extremely niche and has almost no support in Commander, keeping it from being a signature inclusion in any typal deck. At common rarity it's a reasonable Limited finisher but competes with cheaper threats.

Learnings (2)

  • Rocksteady's Boar-tribal ability ('Boars you control can't be blocked by more than one creature') has almost no support in Commander or Brawl — as of 2024, very few Boar creatures exist, so that line of text is effectively blank in most builds.

  • The Forestcycling ability makes Rocksteady a dual-role card: it can be cast as a fat evasive finisher in the late game or discarded early for a Forest, giving green ramp/big-mana decks a flexible 'land or threat' split card at common.
