Rationale
Shriek is a 3cmc BR legendary that offers a main-phase discard outlet to make a creature unable to block (useful for enabling combat damage) and a passive drain/ping whenever an opponent's creature dies. The discard-to-unblockable effect pairs well with aggressive or aristocrats strategies that want to push through damage, while the Sonic Blast trigger rewards sacrifice-heavy or removal-heavy play. At 2/3 for 3 mana, it's a respectable body in Brawl but lacks the raw power for competitive Commander tables.
Learnings (3)
Shriek's discard trigger fires 'when you do' — it uses the reflexive triggered-ability pattern, meaning the can't-block effect is a separate trigger that goes on the stack after the discard, and can be responded to before the creature is locked out.

The 'can't block this turn' effect targets at discard-time (beginning of first main phase), so it must target a creature already in play before combat — it cannot be held to react to a creature tapped or played later.

Shriek's Sonic Blast pings the player whose creature died, not necessarily any single opponent — in multiplayer Commander this means you can rack up chip damage across multiple opponents simultaneously if creatures die on each player's turn.
