Rationale

Spider-Girl is a 2/2 for {G}{W} with flying during your turn and leaves a 1/1 Human Citizen token when she leaves the battlefield. The flying makes her a reasonable evasive attacker in Limited and Brawl, but the LTB token trigger is weak value in Commander/Brawl where opponents can simply let her stick. She has mild synergy with human and spider tribal, but there are far stronger 2-mana legendary creatures for Brawl commanders.

Learnings (3)

  • Spider-Girl's flying is a static ability that only applies during your turn, meaning she loses flying on opponents' turns and can be blocked by ground creatures if they gain reach or if she's used as a blocker.

  • The LTB token trigger produces only a 1/1 Human Citizen — while it replaces herself on death, opponents can simply remove her at a convenient time (e.g., end of your turn) to deny combat value.

  • As a Selesnya (G/W) 2-CMC legendary, she can serve as a Brawl commander but competes unfavorably with stronger 2-mana Selesnya legends; her primary value is in the 99 of human or token-go-wide shells.
