Rationale

Tomik is a 2/4 flying vigilance creature with affinity for planeswalkers, making it a natural cost-reducer and defender in planeswalker-heavy shells. Its triggered ability punishes opponents for attacking with multiple creatures at you or your planeswalkers, generating card draw and life loss — a strong defensive tax in control/midrange lists that protect several planeswalkers. The conditional trigger (requires 2+ attackers targeting you/your walkers) makes it mediocre outside planeswalker-dense or control shells.

Learnings (3)

  • Tomik's affinity for planeswalkers stacks with each planeswalker you control, so in a deck running 5+ planeswalkers he can regularly be cast for {W}{B} or even free.

  • The triggered ability requires two or more creatures attacking you AND/OR your planeswalkers in combination — a single creature attacking each of two different planeswalkers does NOT satisfy the 'two or more attacking' threshold unless both attacks are counted together, which they are; the condition checks the total number of attacking creatures targeting you or your walkers.

    tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6

  • Flying plus vigilance means Tomik both pressures the opponent in the air and stays back to trigger its own defensive ability on the opponent's turn, making it an unusually efficient defensive-offensive two-role threat for a 3-mana creature.
