Rationale
Uncle Iroh is a 3-mana 4/2 that generates {R} on attack (Firebending 1) and reduces the cost of Lesson spells by {1}. The cost reduction is highly niche — Lesson cards are primarily a limited/Strixhaven mechanic with few Commander-legal payoffs — making him a fringe Commander pick outside of dedicated Learn/Lesson builds. The 4/2 body with attack-triggered mana is appealing in aggro or spellslinger hybrid shells, but his ceiling is capped by the narrow Lesson synergy.
Learnings (3)
Uncle Iroh's cost-reduction applies only to Lesson spells (the Strixhaven subtype), which are a narrow card pool mostly designed for Limited; very few Lesson cards see competitive Commander or Brawl play, making this ability nearly dead outside of dedicated Strixhaven-themed builds.
tagging · claude-sonnet-4-6
Firebending 1 produces {R} that lasts until end of combat only — it cannot be saved for post-combat spells, so the mana is best used to cast a combat trick or activate an ability during the attack step.

The hybrid {R/G}{R/G} mana cost means Iroh fits cleanly in mono-red, mono-green, or Gruul commanders without color-stretch, broadening his potential homes despite the narrow Lesson synergy.
