Why Play This Deck

This Atraxa counters-voltron build represents one of the most explosive and consistent proliferate engines in Brawl. Unlike generic goodstuff builds, this version focuses on multiplicative counter synergies that create exponential scaling. The deck excels at converting small early investments into overwhelming board presence through Atraxa's guaranteed end-step proliferate, amplified by signature multipliers like Tekuthal and Vorinclex. With multiple proliferate triggers per turn and counter-doubling effects, the deck can close games quickly while maintaining card advantage through Ezuri and other draw engines.

Play Summary

Mulligan for 2-3 lands with color fixing and early ramp. Deploy mana acceleration turns 1-2, cast Atraxa turn 4, then begin the proliferate value engine. The deck wins through multiple vectors: +1/+1 counter creatures that grow exponentially, planeswalker ultimates accelerated by proliferate, or poison counters from infect creatures. Key decision points involve choosing optimal proliferate targets and protecting Atraxa while she accumulates value. The deck typically wins turns 6-8 through overwhelming board presence or planeswalker ultimates.

Key Synergies

Creates a proliferate engine with 4+ triggers per turn. Atraxa proliferates each end step, Tekuthal doubles it to 2 triggers, and Flux Channeler adds another on each spell cast. This combination scales any counter-based strategy exponentially.

Quadruples +1/+1 counters placed on creatures. Hardened Scales and Branching Evolution each add one counter, then Vorinclex doubles the total. A single +1/+1 counter becomes four, turning small creatures into massive threats instantly.

Creates a self-sustaining ramp and card advantage engine. Each land played triggers Evolution Sage's proliferate and Tireless Tracker's investigate, while Henge adds counters and draws cards from creatures entering. Proliferate grows Henge's cost reduction and Tracker's power.

Infinite +1/+1 counter combo. Archangel's lifelink triggers Heliod to add a counter, which triggers Archangel to add counters to all creatures. Scavenging Ooze provides repeatable lifegain to fuel the engine.

Artifact-based proliferate package that operates independently of creatures. Cornucopia grows into massive mana production, Engine provides repeatable proliferate and board control, and Bastion offers land-based proliferate that's nearly impossible to remove.

Opening Hand

Keep hands with 2-3 lands including dual lands for color fixing, one piece of ramp (Birds of Paradise, Farseek, Arcane Signet), and either a counter synergy piece or removal spell. Ideal hands can cast Atraxa on curve with protection or immediate value. Avoid hands requiring Atraxa to function—the deck needs early plays that set up the proliferate engine. Prioritize hands with Hardened Scales, Evolution Sage, or other early synergy pieces that multiply Atraxa's impact immediately upon her arrival.
