Deck Guide
Why Play This Deck
Atraxa, Grand Unifier is one of the most powerful value engines in Brawl, capable of drawing multiple cards of different types when she enters the battlefield. This deck leverages that incredible card advantage to establish control of the game while deploying powerful threats and answers. With access to four colors, you have the best removal, counterspells, and win conditions available.
Play Summary
This is a midrange control deck that aims to survive the early game with efficient removal and counterspells, then deploy Atraxa to refill your hand and take over. The deck runs a high density of different card types to maximize Atraxa's ability - you'll often draw 4-6 cards when she enters. Use your card advantage to out-resource opponents while deploying powerful threats like Sheoldred and Uro to close out games.
Key Synergies
Atraxa refills your hand with multiple card types, giving you the resources to cast Emergent Ultimatum and present your opponent with impossible choices between game-ending spells.
These enchantments provide consistent card draw throughout the game, ensuring you always have resources to deploy while taxing opponents who don't want to give you extra cards.
Sheoldred punishes opponents for drawing cards while you take extra turns to pressure them further, creating a devastating lock that's difficult to escape.
Uro provides ramp, card draw, and life gain while Into the North fixes your mana and thins your deck, both supporting the long-game strategy.
These sagas provide repeatable value while dealing with opposing threats, fitting perfectly into the value engine strategy and representing different card types for Atraxa.
Opening Hand
Look for 2-4 lands with good color diversity, at least one piece of ramp (Arcane Signet, Cultivate, Into the North), and early interaction (Swords to Plowshares, Fatal Push, Thoughtseize). Hands with Rhystic Study or Mystic Remora are excellent as they provide long-term advantage. Avoid hands that are too threat-heavy without interaction, as you need to survive to the mid-game where Atraxa takes over.
